Staying sharp

The HORL® Brotmesser is a bread knife that combines innovative blade geometry with sophisticated design and precision craftsmanship. This blend of perfect constituents is sure to give you joy every day as a timeless companion. Just like good bread.

Triple Pro Cut

Three elements for optimal cutting performance

Crust, soft bread, base – bread differs as you slice through it. Our specially designed serrated edge, Triple Pro Cut, copes with all these. The ridges tackle the crust, while the serrations slice the soft bread cleanly and the smooth plateaus effortlessly slice through the base.

Resharpenable

Minimal effort, lasting sharpness

You can easily keep the blade sharp by using your HORL® Sharpener – without any grinding. Affix the blade to the 15° option of your angle support and roll the honing disc along each side of the cutting edge. Just a couple of minutes each month will suffice to maintain your bread knife at its best for years to come.

Absolute precision with every slice

Extremely hard Swedish knife steel and the thick spine of the blade guarantee stability. The blade is finely ground to 15°, which means you’ll experience absolute precision with every slice. Thanks to the slight top-heaviness of the blade, the bread knife is balanced in such a way that it glides through the bread almost of its own accord.

Double bevel

Twice as sharp, incredibly versatile

Whether it’s sourdough bread, a baguette or a pastry, as the blade is ground on both sides, you’ll always get a straight cut – whether you’re right or left-handed. The smooth plateaus of the Triple Pro Cut glide gently through any type of bread without tearing the crumb or compressing the loaf.

Handmade and beautifully shaped

The timeless design of the handle combines clean lines with subtle ergonomic features. The slightly bulbous shape of the grip ensures a perfect fit in the hand. To deliver flawless craftsmanship and maximum durability, we glue, sand, and oil the wood by hand.

Perfectly matching your HORL®3 Sharpener

With its wooden handle’s unique grain, the HORL® Brotmesser is sure to be an eye-catcher in your kitchen. It will also perfectly match your HORL®3: we craft the handle from the same high-quality solid wood, in a choice of walnut or oak, as the grip of our sharpeners.

Made in Germany

Just as when making a good loaf of bread, it takes the finest ingredients, expertise, and time to make your HORL® Brotmesser. The special Triple Pro Cut serrated edge and the meticulously crafted wooden handle are the result of precise craftsmanship and our years of experience.
