The standard diamond grinding disc comes fitted on all HORL®2 sharpeners and is ideal for sharpening knives of all hardness grades. The disc is extremely durable, retaining its grinding performance for years, so that at any time you can sharpen your knives efficiently and with minimal removal of material.
Industrial diamonds are considered one of the most durable and efficient abrasives available. The monocrystalline diamonds we use are harder than any knife steel. In an electroplating process around 55 % of the diamonds in the HORL® Diamond Standard are firmly embedded on a nickel plate. Their surface, which is rough to begin, is refined during the first grinding procedure and it retains this condition from then on.
A few excess diamond particles will flake off during its first use. The grinding disc will then achieve its optimum roughness, which remains constant during subsequent use. Used correctly, the disc should not need replacing.
HORL®2 models have a screw lock, while HORL®3 models are equipped with Quick Lock. When ordering discs, make sure you choose those that fit your model of sharpener. This enables you to discover even higher levels of sharpness using our accessories.
